Captive Modem mode enables Ericsson Cradlepoint 5G routers to work together (one as a controller, the other as the accessory), enhancing connectivity in mobile networks.
Ericsson Cradlepoint 5G and select LTE routers can add cellular WAN resiliency to mobile networks through additional captive modem links. Customers whose critical communications require higher reliability can experience increased uptime and rapid carrier failover when moving across diverse coverage areas.
For better traffic optimization, SD-WAN and intelligent bonding can utilize the two links to route traffic using a variety of methodologies (capabilities may be limited by what’s available for the controller router). Additionally, mobile users benefit from carrier signal prioritization, improved performance, and lower latency provided by 5G Standalone (SA) technologies supported by the captive modem.
The Ericsson Cradlepoint RC1250 captive modem accessory offers near-instant failover between SIMS with its Dual-SIM Dual Standby capabilities. Visibility into the failover network is also provided, eliminating blind failover.
By combining the captive modem accessory with the router as a controller, IT staff can experience simplified management from the combined entity as a single license.
Add up to 4 additional RC1250 Captive Modems for increased cellular WAN connections when paired with the Ericsson Cradlepoint R2400 ruggedized router.
