We are Cradlepoint
Born in Boise.
Built for Wireless.
Cradlepoint is a Boise, Idaho, company with a mission of enabling customers to Connect Beyond the limits of wired networks. We unlock the transformative power of today’s LTE and 5G cellular networks to provide an agile, reliable, and pervasive Wireless WAN edge.
We call it Elastic Edge. You will call it amazing.
The Cradlepoint Story
Our NetCloud Service and wireless edge solutions let
customers connect people, places, and things everywhere.
Simply. Securely. Wirelessly.
Our history defines us.
Our future will redefine the WAN.
Visionary. Innovative. Grit. Humble. Hungry. These words shaped our rise to become the industry leader in LTE wireless edge solutions for enterprise and public sector customers. And they continue to define us today as we lead the way to 5G and a Wireless WAN future.
Cradlepoint was founded in 2006. But ... how did we come up with the name? It's pretty simple: Our first device was a "cradle" that transformed a cell phone into a Wi-Fi access "point". Cradle. Point. (See what we did there?)
After a wayward experiment in consumer WiMAX, we discovered our real purpose in the enterprise. Cradlepoint was the first to deliver an enterprise-class LTE edge router — creating a new industry in the process.
First Move to Cloud
We launched WiPipe, our first cloud management platform. We’ve learned a lot since these early days.
SDN Gets Its Start
We acquired Pertino Networks, a first mover in cloud-delivered software-defined networking for device-based networks. Pertino soon becomes NetCloud Perimeter (NCP).
NetCloud is Born
The shift to our present-day cloud-delivered service all started here with the introduction of our NetCloud platform. It is the first platform to combine cloud management and software-defined modem technology with software-defined networking, unified edge security, and cloud-controlled router endpoints.
Pathway to 5G
We launched our revolutionary Pathway to 5G program with select wireless operators to help customers take advantage of LTE while providing them with a clear and investment-protected path to 5G when and where they need it in the future.
In January 2018, we embraced the future and transformed our customers’ experience by launching our all-inclusive, subscription-based NetCloud Solution Packages. We also were first to market with the introduction of FirstNet Ready and Gigabit-Class LTE edge router solutions.
We are gratified to reach over 20,000 customers and 1 million NetCloud endpoints under subscription. This milestone includes more than 3,000 public safety organizations that we are proud to "connect and serve" every day.
5G Ushers in Wireless WAN Era
Crowning a decade of innovation and firsts, Cradlepoint announces a portfolio of 5G for Business solutions in February 2020 — ushering in the Wireless WAN era in the process. Our first solution to ship will be a 5G Wideband Adapter (Sub-6) for our launch partner Telstra.
Cradlepoint Becomes Part of Ericsson
While Cradlepoint lives on as a standalone company and brand, we are united with Ericsson to accelerate 5G and Wireless WAN adoption.
India Center Opens
To help meet the rapidly growing need for Cradlepoint's NetCloud Service as organizations strive to centrally manage routers and adapters throughout the world, Cradlepoint opens a software development center in Bangalore, India.
Ericsson Forms New Enterprise Business Unit Around Cradlepoint
The new Enterprise Wireless Solutions business unit consolidates and accelerates Ericsson’s push into the enterprise market with Cradlepoint leading the way, leveraging its vast experience, capabilities, and 3,000+ global partners. The new business unit also includes Dedicated Networks and its Ericsson Private 5G (EP5G) solution for private cellular networking. In addition to being Cradlepoint CEO, George Mulhern has been appointed Senior Vice President of the BEWS business unit.
Trust = Transparency. When things don’t go quite as planned or external forces impact our service, we believe the best way to respond is with transparency and focused execution. Here you can find out more about NetCloud Service security notifications and uptime as well as our privacy policies.
Our work is deeply rooted in our customers' success. We strive to make sure our NetCloud Service delivers measurable value. And, our customer success mindset spans the way we build, sell, ship, and support our solutions.
Our customer values drive everything we do
Since our inception, Cradlepoint’s commitment to innovation has led to a continuous stream of industry firsts. We were first to deliver an enterprise-class LTE edge router, first to combine software-defined modem, WAN, and perimeter technologies, first to offer FirstNet Ready and Gigabit-Class LTE solutions, and first to provide a Pathway to 5G that leads right to our new “5G for Business” portfolio.
We are proud citizens of Boise and denizens of the world with Cradlepoint endpoints deployed on every continent. Our CradlepointCares™ program donates time, money, and equipment to causes that are important to us within our community and to people in need and affected by crises around the world.
