Who needs to approve my name?

Ericsson Group Naming Council is responsible for ensuring consistency in offering naming and adherence to Ericsson naming principles. The council exists to ensure all Ericsson externally visible entities meet the demands of our Master Brand Structure and legal requirements. The principles ensure consistent and clear naming across the organization, clarify for target audiences what we can provide, as well as, enable investors, media and other key stakeholders to understand the value of our offering.

 


What names require approval?

Ericsson Group Naming Council requires approval of names for:

  • Commercial offerings
  • Systems and tools
  • Organizational names
  • Marketing names
  • Chatbots
  • Trademarks

Recommended naming structure

Ideal names are descriptive names that are as simple as possible. This ensures clarity, while respecting the complex and advanced technical nature of our business and offerings. Following the recommendations and the required steps, will make the approval process run smoother and avoiding delays.

Nearly all Ericsson names follow a main principle: Ericsson + [A few words that explain what something is or what it does]

What is the process for BEWS?

Kelly Hendricks and James Weaver meet with the Ericsson Group Naming Council weekly on Tuesdays; submissions for agenda inclusion are due by Thursday at 6 pm CET.

Naming requests will take 2-4 weeks to be approved.


Submit a name

To submit a name for review at the council meeting, please follow these steps below:

Step 2: Send the fulfilled PPT template to the BEWS brand team:

After the council has met, the BEWS team will provide an update on the status and/or approval.
